Accessibility Guide: Nature for Everyone at Mandai

At Mandai parks, we believe that the wonders of the natural world should be accessible to everyone. From the lush canopies of Rainforest Wild Asia to the aquatic depths of River Wonders, our parks are designed with inclusive infrastructure to ensure guests of all ages and abilities can explore with ease.

Below is your comprehensive guide to navigating our reserve comfortably.

General Mobility & Wheelchair Access

All five parks—Singapore Zoo, Bird Paradise, River Wonders, Night Safari, and Rainforest Wild Asia—feature paved, step-free paths suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

  • Wheelchair & Stroller Rental: Available at the entrance of each park on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the high demand for Singapore Zoo tickets and Bird Paradise tickets, we recommend arriving early if you require a rental.

  • Accessible Trams: The tram services in the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are equipped with dedicated ramps and spaces to accommodate guests in wheelchairs.

  • Elevators and Ramps: Multi-level exhibits, such as the Oceanic Penguin Cove in Bird Paradise and the Amazon Flooded Forest in River Wonders, are fully equipped with spacious elevators.

Accessibility at Rainforest Wild Asia

While Rainforest Wild Asia is designed as a more rugged, "wild" experience, we have ensured that the beauty of Rainforest Wild is still inclusive.

  • The Elevated Walkway: This is the primary accessible route through the park. It is a broad, flat boardwalk that allows guests in wheelchairs or those with limited mobility to view animals like the Malayan Tiger from a safe and clear vantage point without navigating uneven forest floor terrain.

  • Activity Restrictions: Please note that certain "high-adventure" zones, such as the Canopy Jump and the Wild Cavern Adventure, require physical exertion and the ability to navigate narrow, uneven spaces. These specific activities may not be suitable for guests with mobility impairments.

Sensory-Friendly Visiting

We understand that the sights and sounds of a busy wildlife park can be overwhelming for some guests.

  • Sensory Bags: Available for loan at Guest Relations Centers, these kits include noise-canceling headphones and fidget tools to help guests with sensory sensitivities.

  • Quiet Zones: Each park has designated "Quiet Zones" or calm areas. The Mandai Boardwalk is an excellent free-access space for a quiet break away from the crowds, offering peaceful views of the reservoir.

  • Show Lighting and Sound: Presentations like the Wings of the World at Bird Paradise or the Creatures of the Night at Night Safari use bright lights and sudden sounds. We recommend sitting near the exits if you feel you may need to leave the amphitheater quickly.

Service Animals

  • Guide Dogs: Professionally trained guide dogs and service animals are permitted within the parks. However, to ensure the safety and well-being of our resident animals, access to certain "walk-through" habitats (such as the Fragile Forest in the Zoo or the aviaries in Bird Paradise) may be restricted. Please contact Guest Relations upon arrival for a guided escort or to discuss specific route adjustments.

Accessible Transportation & Parking

  • Mandai Shuttle: All shuttle buses from Khatib MRT are wheelchair-accessible and feature low-floor entry.

  • Parking: Dedicated accessible parking lots are located closest to the entrance of each park's arrival plaza.

  • Mandai Rainforest Resort: The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree offers specifically designed accessible rooms with roll-in showers and grab bars, ensuring your stay in the heart of nature is stress-free.

Nursing Rooms & Family Facilities

  • Nursing Rooms: Private, air-conditioned nursing rooms with diaper-changing stations and water dispensers are located at the entrance and at major hubs within all parks.

  • Adult Changing Stations: Larger changing facilities for guests with high-support needs are available at the main Arrival Plaza and within Bird Paradise.

Quick Tips for an Inclusive Visit

  • Plan for River Wonders: Since River Wonders is almost entirely sheltered and features wide, flat walkways, it is often the most comfortable park for guests who are sensitive to heat or use larger motorized wheelchairs.

  • Companion Discounts: Local residents with a Developmental Disability Registry (DDR) identity card or a Persons with Disabilities (PWD) concession card often qualify for discounted Singapore Zoo tickets and companion entry. Please check the ticketing counter for the latest 2026 concession rates.
